MADISON BEACH CLUB
An old-established beach club that was in former years a stopping-off point for New York Yacht Club members' yachts in Madison, CT, on their way east. Atlantics are kept on moorings in front of the large and handsome clubhouse with its excellent facilities. Only six years ago a small group of enthusiasts started a fleet which grew quickly, so much so that they were able to hold a successful national championship in 2013. A unique feature of the fleet is a separate division for "cruising" Atlantics built by the now defunct Seafarer yard. These beautiful boats are at a disadvantage in some conditions when racing against the rest of the fleet, partly because their deck layout isn't as efficient for serious racing. But here they can have fun fighting it out among themselves.
